DVR set-top "hum"

Hey all...

Recently noticed that our cable DVR vibrates slightly (almost 24/7) which I'm assuming is from either the fan or the hard drive. That in itself wouldn't be a problem, but it's in a wooden entertainment center, which magnifies the sound of the vibration and creates a constant bass "hum" that just bugs the hell out of me when the TV is off.

I already tried placing it on top of some extra silicon case feet that I had lying around, which lowers the volume a bit but it's still there.

Any suggestions on how to decouple this thing? Are there and spring-loaded feet or suspension setups that might work?

Thanks in advance,

Got any little pieces of foam laying around? Might be able to slip some of that under the feet to see if that helps. I would think this would vibrate the foam but not make it to the wood.

Tried that, the foam compressed lol...I'll look for other materials to do that with though, thanks.

Jam something in the fan to lock the blades. If the noise stops it IS the fan. A fan should not do that however. Sitting the box on a piece of weatherstrip should decouple it from the cabinet and prevent it from singing.
