DVR Question?

I dont know if this is a dumb question but...

I have set to record a TV show at 8 o clock, tomorrow. However im leaving tonight, does the TV need to be on for it to record? I dont want to leave the tv on all night and day... I have comcast DVR.

negatory. The TV doesn't do anything but display the picture; if the DVR is getting a signal, it will record.

Man the response time on the Comcast DVR is abysmal. I can't wait for the price of the Series 3 TiVO to come down to something reasonable.
