DVR in second room

I have my home theater setup in the living room with the DVR. What I would like to do is use my DVR on the TV in my office as well. The two rooms share a wall, so running cable isn't really an issue.

Here are my uneducated thoughts on how to accomplish this:

(1) HDMI splitter out of the DVR. One HDMI to the receiver in the living room and one HDMI through the wall to the TV in the office.
(2) IR blaster from the office back to the living room, so that I can use a second remote from the office to control the DVR.

Is this the "best" way to do this? Is there a way to do this wireless (and affordable)?

Thanks!

Instead of a wired IR blaster, you might try something like an IR-->RF converter.

And then something like this and this for the HDMI.

How far apart are the rooms? If they're close enough just having a long HDMI cable would be fine as well.

I saw the IR>>RF converter earlier as well...it just looks kinda cheap and has poor reviews for something on Monoprice. It may be the best bet though...

The TV is right on the other side of the wall from where the DVR box is...so definitely not more than 5m of HDMI run.
