what do you guys think??

In dvoraks opinion apple will switch to Intel but NOT the P4, but the Itanium.

good move if they do so??

Dvorak is a moron.

Anyone who even casually follows Apple hardware knows that they're planning on using the IBM 970 as their G4 replacement. It will give them the RISC processor speed boost that they desprately need right now, without having to rewrite OS X and their application software for an Intel platform.

Wow, wouldn't that make their systems even more expensive? How much does Motorola charge for G4's these days?

I like dvorak (silicon spin on techtv was awesome) but he can be wrong a huge amount of the time. This would be one of those times.

There's been rumors for a while of Apple abandoning it's proprietary line of processors and chipsets and moving to all Intel.

There's been rumors that Apple would eventually ditch it's OS and run windows (pre-OSX)

There were rumors that the G4 would never hit above 1ghz.

There's plenty of other ones too.....but most important is that I think Steve Jobs doesn't even know what they're going to do next. Buthe knows they need another IMAC, and they've got to do something about the performance. I agree with ultimateBob, that IBM is the frontrunner, form all the stuff I've read about them (and my wife has a g4 so I keep up with it)
