It makes a HUGE difference for me on my Dell 1504 FP. Text is a lot blurrier when I'm using VGA...and text is absolutely beautiful when I'm hooked up with DVI + ClearType.

The quality of the DVI cable can also play a small role,I`m using a Belkin Pro series DVI cable on my Samsung 191T and it`s very nice and crisp, analogue was not bad but DVI is better IMHO.
There seems to be view (on review sites) that VGA has now caught up to DVI on most of the newer monitors. For example, the Samsung 192N (analog only) is supposed to look identical to the 191T (dual) on DVI mode. Mind you, I run the 191T on DVI and am very, very
Between my Dell 17 LCD (analog) and my Dell 18 DVI LCD, I really can't tell much difference between the 2 in terms of clarity. Comparing ghosting or contrast ratio between the 2 is a bit unfair since they use different panels. I believe late model non-DVI LCDs have made some progress to the point where it is relatively comparable to a DVI connection to maybe a untrained eye such as myself.
I was running my Philips Brilliance 180p on VGA till I got my 9800 pro (finally ) via Fedex, and I haven't noticed alot of difference. Everything generally looks better, but the only real difference I've noticed is text in the BIOS screens and stuff look better. I have been using Cleartype for a while, and to me that makes the biggest difference.
