I am looking for a decent LCD. I have seen some that have no DVI, but have ~12 second response time. There are others with DVI, but are ~25 response time. Which is more imortant? I only game a little big and my old dell CRT monitor has suited me just fine. I want something lower profile though.

TIA

if you game 25ms response is absolutely painful to use. I had to buy another LCD with better response cause I couldn't stand it and my CRT was dying. DVI is important, but it's less so than the response. However, you should be able to find some decent panels with lower response times and DVI without getting jacked too badly. For example, I think Samsung has several 19" panels for $400 and under, with 12ms and DVI, at newegg. My personal preference is the Hyundai L90D+ (don't get the L90 non+), it's got 8ms response, 700:1 contrast, 300(whatever brightness units are) brightness, and DVI. I got a sweet deal on it from Compusa - $339 including shipping, but they are sold out right now. Newegg has them for $400, and that's got my vote.

yeah VGA isnt really that big of a deal. if you dont game much, then get DVI though because ghosting generally isnt that noticable and the DVI will give you a sharper output in windows.
if you do game a reasonable ammount though, then i'd say get the lowes response time you can; even if its vga.

Since you're not a big gamer, I would say DVI is more important. For me, it's DVI, panel, bit, and response time in that order.

I've never heard of "ViewEra", and have no clue about what panel is used in that monitor or how it actually performs (it says it's "16ms response", but that doesn't always mean much). I wouldn't buy any hardware if I didn't have as much information about it as possible.

Just to chip in, I went from a trinitron crt to a 25ms 17" lcd and at first I was disappointed with the way games looked. I play ut2k4 mostly and something seemed off. Maybe it was ghosting, maybe it was just how things look different on a lcd vs crt. But after 2 days of more or less constant gaming, I adjusted and stopped noticing a problem. After that I gamed with no problem that I could see and was quite happy. I'm sure in a side-by-side with a sub 16ms lcd I would see a difference, but I just upgraded to a 16ms 20" lcd and I don't see any more or less ghosting than I did with the 25ms. So when people say its painful to play at 25ms, I just have to say it's a personal thing and I completely didn't notice it at all after 2 days of using it. Looney Theory: I had Lasik surgery a couple years ago so maybe that affected my ability to perceive ghosting.
