DVI vs Analog and can't hook both at once to card

I am assuming that you can't do both.
I was going to use the swap buton from analog to DVI since there is a button to go to it and SVHS and composite.
Bt, i get the yellow light on whateve one i connect second
So, is it just not doable ?

one PC with DVI and Analog ( gefoce 6800 ) and a Dell 2001
It seems logical it would work.....and also that it would conflict but that is what the switch is for
bug ?

why would u say i want to do this
well, the text as I read here a LOT is blurry and I got it much better going to analog and lowering the contrast.

I also read this review that said DVI is not what it's all made to be these days short of being a pro with video

So does anyone know if I am trying to do a connection that just does not work ?

hum, taht BFG 24 hr tech support, lol, I think i will use it now 🙂

You don't need to plug both into the same monitor, only for dual-monitor, plug one into each
So if your asking how to connect your monitor, just use DVI

thanks
I am going to use analog for now as I needed to lower the contrast as the text is better
I can't tell f the graphics were better on DVI as it just damn rocks period in games 🙂

much better than my Sony 17 inch CRT trinitron and i was not thinking i would get the same quality.....
so much for that at least in my first tests of games

2001 is a very good gaming monitor

I would also choose the DVI connection, it is far superior to VGA and the text should look sharper using DVI. Not sure what your talking about using a lower contrast for better text on VGA.

Just use DVI + Cleartype

I find DVI is clearer/sharper in everyway, I tested using my Benq FP991 at work.

Really? I tried that clear type, and it looked fuzzy to me... 😕

Must be a personal preference thing.

trust me i did DVI first
but i do not want to run 1600x1200 so the 1280x1024 is not native and thus not as clear

VGA u can adjust settings and I am experimenting

Cleartype I have NEVER liked even on the 17 inch CRT
I tried that when XP first came out and it never worked for me

but i tried it all before i decided to try vga a bit and as that article says ya can't really see the difference
I took screen shots in both and I am not sure which is which in a game. Far Cry and HL2 look great in either one

But it's part using 1280x1024
In time I will try to go to 1600 but it's just too big a leap from 800x600 to that, lol

the graphics are amazing and even reading these boards banners, title bars, etc,etc

It's TEXT only and I may be getting used to it already

Thanks

It took me some time to get used to it but now I wont go back to being without it.

Also try the cleartype tuning to customize it to your taste: Cleartype tuning

Great tool there and I am going ot be using it now.
Wonder why they can't put that in a service pak

Thanks a lot
It does help a ton over just ebabling it in the display settings
