Ok, DVI is the connector used for high end LCD's. TV-Out is exactly what it sounds like, TV-out. VIVO is Basically TV-out and TV-in (well, Video out and video in since it's just an RCA pluag, or S-video). If you just wnat VIdeo out, to play games on a TV< then get a Video card w/ TV-Out.

Lucky dang man your first post, archive this or somethin :). Don't be hard on yourself, nobody sounds pathetic on Anandtech. We're here to help each other out. Ok, if you have a DVD-rom drive then you can watch DVD's just fine on your monitor. If you want to play games on your TV then you will want a video card with TV-out.

If you DONT have a DVD-rom, and you want to watch DVD's from your DVD player on a monitor, then you'll want a card with Video In, some cards with Video In have Video out, this is like TV-out, but instead of the RG cable output it has Composite Video output (RCA style) or S-Video out.

You may find it helpful in your time here at Anandtech to enable your profile and enable private messaging, done by clicking the profile button in the upper right corner. Have fun and ask for help if you need it.

oopss...i mislead my question...i wanted to watch dvd and play games throught a regular tv and not a monitor...the only option i would need is the tv-out correct? If so, what benefit does vivo offer? Is this just for video editing like camcarcoder and such? If so, i'm not really looking for this....thanks..

I'll have to agree with oLLie, about saving your first post :)
Hit "Print Screen" key > Click "Start" button > "Programs" > "Accessories" > "Paint" > "Ctrl" & "V" > "Yes"...
Then save it as whatever you want to call it.

VIVO lets you capture video from camcorder's, VCR's, etc.

Have fun! ;)
