Dvi useful for what?

Am p[lanning a new 19" LCD and thougfht of these two

Acer 1913 or Acer 1914. How important is DVI for surfing and office apps. I dont game. I dont even have a display card with these connectors

If you don't have a card that outputs DVI, you wont get any benefit from having it on the monitor.

But what is the advantage of DVI? Is it only for games? ANy dope on any of the 2 Acer monitors?
