Do the converters always work ?
Specifically, would I have to worry about it not working with this card when connecting to my old vga crt ?

Should I be confused over analog vs. digital here ?
ie: if the card's connector is dvi-d, dvi-a, dvi-i, etc. will one break compatibility ?

Ok, it appears that card will NOT work
apparently the analog is carried in the T on the plug, that dvi connector is missing that

thanks anyways :)

I looked at the card on the HIS website and I don't see the holes for the VGA signal in the DVI connector. Also, according to the specs, the DVI connecor is DVI-D. The support Digital and Analog it has to be a DVI-I connector (somebody correct me if I'm wrong).

wow they are really cheaping out on cards these days. making them digital only. too bad if you have a crt. theres just no way to hook it up without spending more on a converter than the price of the card itself.

I ended up just getting An Asus
I purchased it locally with $5 off for open box(hopefully not a problem), and $10 mail in rebate

it comes with a dvi-vga converter so that was nice

I had 3 choices locally:

asus, xfx, msi

the msi card had a horrible looking dual fan setup and cost more
and the xfx one was gddr3

only have to test it out now :)
