I've got a DVI to VGA adapter and it only has about 7-8 pins on the male DVI end. I've seen adapters that have all the pins on the DVI end, is there a difference? Is my adapter of a lower quality, will my image suffer?

As long as you got one that's designed for your card, you should have no issues. The VGA signal is part of the DVI output, so the ones that have all the pins are carrying more than they need to for the VGA output.

The DVI-I connector on your video card can handle digital signals on the right-hand side of the connector and the standard analog signals on the left-hand side (where the pins are much bigger).

All your adapter does is break those analog signals into a standard vga form-factor. So having the rest of the pins in place for the digital side would be pointless.
