I've tried enabling dvi out from my G4 Mac with an ATI 9000 to my 46 inch widescreen HDTV Sony RPTV. I got some weird resolution like 3245x1572! Do I need to buy a different card, or will this suffice for enabling DVI Out to my HDTV.
Thanks,
Kishan

Is the Radeon 9000 the only video card present?
Is this the Mac version card (as opposed to a PC version)?
Does the Mac version ATI driver have a Control Panel, for enabling secondary displays?

Radeon 9000 is the only card present-its the only AGP slot in the G4, however we could put in a PCI based card, if necessary. Yes, it is a Mac Version. Yes there is a ATI Control Panel, but it doesn't mention any sort of video out with the dvi connection.
Thanks,

It should be possible with the card; however, you might need to adjust the timing parameters, or force the resolution to what it "should" be on the HDTV (probably 1920x1080 interlaced, or 1280x720 progressive, or 640x480). A lot of HDTVs don't support computer resolutions (like 800x600, 1024x768, etc.), and/or don't report their resolution capabilities correctly back to a computer (which actually cares about this sort of thing; home theater gear will just blindly output 1080i or whatever even if the display can't handle it).

You can do this on a PC with a program called PowerStrip, but I don't know what you would use on a Mac. You might try over at www.avsforum.com and see if they have any better information...
