I think this is the correct forum.

So here's my problem. I just bought a new TV that has HDMI inputs only. I bought a DVI-HDMI cable and hooked up my computer. It works for a few days. However, now I no longer get any output from the computer to the TV. The computer still works since I can ssh into. My XBox 360 works and displays output. Could I have just bought a bad cable?

check your video driver setting again, is it doing dualview? I know with nvidia, you have to turn on the tv before you turn on your pc, it will not recognise dvi display on the fly.

Okay, just tried turning on the TV first and then the computer. Still nothing. When this worked before, I could see the computer POST while booting. Now it's just nothing.

So it looks like my computer's detecting my TV (it's a Philips), but the TV is now refusing to show anything. Grrr...

This is absolutely strange. It now works, but I only get video output if I plug the cable into HDMI3. Neither HDMI1 nor HDMI2 ports on the TV give me any output...

TV = Philips 42PFL3704D

Also, I'm not using the generic XWindow drivers and not the catalyst drivers.

Assuming your computer works fine with an ordinary monitor, I would guess that your TV has some defects. DVI-D (single link) and HDMI are electrically compatible - your cable does nothing other than change the shape / arrangement of the conductors at the end. Is it practical for you to try another computer on HDMI1 & 2?
