DVI to HDMI from pc to hdtv

For various reasons I can't use the vga out on my card to the tv anymore and was thinking of using the DVI to teh tv's hdmi instead. However I have a geforce 6800 and don't think its hdcp compliant. Does that mean I can't drive the tv with a dvi to hdmi adapter?

no
that just means if you had blueray or hd-dvd drive on your computer it wouldnt output. everythign else will work. i've done it on my machine with a $5 cable from monoprice.com

I personally prefer the way it looks over VGA if tweaked properly because there is no scaling done by the tv. Especially when reading text.

There shouldn't be scaling done by the TV using DVI/HDMI either. Unless the TV will not accept its native resolution over DVI/HDMI (entirely possible with some sets).
