DVI quites working when playing games

Installed a new monitor on my dad's computer a Viewsonic vx1940w. Problem is when I start playing games, I get that no signal message and the screen goes blank. Everything works fine as long as I don't play games. When I hook it the analog cable, everything works fine as well as the games. I'm using a dvi-d cable, and a hd 2600 pro. I've tried switching video card, doing the 2 cable thing, and everything else I can find. Any ideas?

try changing refresh rate to 60hz

refreash rate is on 60 hz. I've even downloaded the newest video drivers today with no luck.

is your 2600pro an agp version by any chance?

Any other suggestions? Today I tried a thicker cable that was dual link but still get this problem. Anyone?
