DVI output or input not working on new VPR Matrix flat panel

my friend bought the VPR Matrix monitor from Bestbuy when it was going for 300 bucks...anyway, he's got a Leadtek GeForce 3 Ti200 TDH with DVI, however, when he tries to set it to DVI, the monitor flickers to test if it will work, but it goes back to analog...DVI should work as it's an option (not grayed out like TV-out)...this is with Nvidia's latest drivers...
is there some way I can figure out if it's the card that has the problem or the monitor?
