DVI or VGA

I just got a Belkin Flip. It allows me to use 2 computers on one monitor and one keyboard and mouse. The only draw back is that its forcing me to use my VGA input on my ViewSonic VX924 and my VGA output on my Radeon 800XL PCI-E card. Now I could get a VGA to DVI converter but how much of a differnce does DVI make? Just trying to see if there is a big difference or if I shouldn't even worry about it.

I think I read somewhere around here that you'll only see a difference at resolutions of 1600*1200 and up. Not sure what the difference is. Try searching.

A VGA to DVI converter will not help you any, but running a DVI monitor on a DVI connection does make a difference is picture quality and color, the difference was very noticeable for me.

Many people, myself included, will tell you that they can't see any difference between the VGA and DVI connection. It may depend on the monitor.

Didn't see much difference when I went from my old Samsung 17" LCD VGA to the 2407WFP on DVI - but then again, I wasn't really comparing it.

But from a technical standpoint - you're bypassing the digital->analog and back again stages when using a digital monitor, so there theoretically should be a benefit using DVI.

But, if I were you, VGA will do fine - in everyday use. A VGA->DVI converter is pretty much doing the same thing your LCD will do. I'd not worry about it.

Thanks guys. I've been running VGA for about a day now and I did see a minor difference with the TXT on the screen. It wasn't a big deal, I just adjusted the clear type tuning and its back to how it looked with DVI. I haven't played any games with it in VGA yet but i'm not expecting anything drastic. Thanks again.
