DVI or VGA... With Poll

run diabo 2 in windowed mode. Add -w to the command line after exe. Running in windowed 800x600 won't stretch the image and it should look better.

Diablo 2 is 640 x 480, but goes up to 800 x 600 if you have the expansion pack. You need to make sure to used fixed aspect ratio scaling for things to look best. It looks great on my 19" LCD.

my 17" CRT has VGA, but it probably looks a lot better than all your stupid little LCD monitors with DVI. seriously, it doesnt matter.

can someone please tell me what a new'ish game that has outstanding graphics is? I will try to download a demo.

Diablo is old. cannot even remember when i got it. But I also tried Lara Croft which was FWP and that was worse than an old WarCarft game I have.

So, I have put the DVI cable back, and will d/l a demo if someone give me a good suggestion.

Yes. There is a difference. DVI is, for the most part, a cleaner signal than VGA. Having said that, there are also other factors that will affect picture quality like the video card ( quality of the components ), LCD type, even cable type / quality. You probably won't notice much difference between the two when gaming except maybe differences in color. Generally, the newer panels do a better job with signal noise but there is still some extra noise present in VGA. You will see this right away by putting your LCD in DualView clone mode and running a pattern generator ( Passmark's Monitor Test ) and switching between DVI and VGA. I have both a Dell 2001FP and 2405FPW and the 2405FPW and the difference is much greater on the 2001FP than the 2405FPW.

i have 2 pc's hooked to a 930b, 1 dvi and 1 d-sub. there is no difference at all except the dvi pc does not have OSD adjustment. the vga/d-sub is actually easier to use because of this.

Warcraft and Diablo are old games, yes. So, I tried Lara Croft and that was slightly better.

I downloaded a demo of Half life. That is GORGEOUS!

Any other games... along the Warcraft/Diablo genre that are new/modern ... that I will be impressed with the graphics?

"Lara Croft" is not a game (no offense) -- what specific (tomb raider) game is it? 🙂

Diablo and Warcraft are generally considered to be two different genres, so...which one?

WarcraftIII should be in the bargain bin by now, but it's "modern" as for diablo, I just don't know. The click-o-rama action RPG genre has kinda died since Diablo II 🙁

I also have Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3 but have never opened it.

I downloaded Half Live 2 Demo. Looks fantastic. But I suppose I should find out what STEAM is and stuff...
