dvi on radeon 8500 working?

hi everyone,
I just received my radeon 8500 (3 days after which I found it for $40 less :disgust: ).. plugged it in, plugged my planar 18.1" into the DVI output and ...I have a dark screen. Switching to analog worked, but I can't seem to make the output DVI.. any suggestions would be greaat..

Assuming the card is not malfunctioning, could be a cable issue... There are some peculiarities with DVI-I and DVI-D cables (DVI+VGA vs. DVI-only), though someone else would be better at the details.
I'm actually using an Apple 17" LCD display on my Radeon 8500 via the DVI output (thru a Dr.Bott DVI-ADC adapter).
Works perfectly and looks great.
The Apple display is left over from migrating from Mac to WinXP. It's too nice of a display to get rid of.
