DVI monitor questions?

My dad just got a new 1900FP and he hooked up via DVI but he said that he can change the resolution up and down just like with an analog connection. I thought with DVI the connection automatically adjusted for size and refresh rate, but that doesn't seem to be the case for my dad. What exactly is the deal? Are there settings in the display menu or should everything be automatic? Just trying to make sure everything is the way it should be.

Everything is fine. The use of the DVI connection doesn't mean that you can run only at the native resolution of the panel -- it just means that the signal transmission from the video card to the panel is digital in nature. The panel will still adjust to lower resolution (DVI) inputs and try to give a good image.

That being said, I certainly recommend that you run at 1280x1024@60Hz -- the optimum resolution and refresh rate of the 1900FP.
