The DVI LCDs seem to be a lot nicer than the regular ones. However I am told that not only you need a DVI ready video card, but also the maximum resolution is not very high on these.

What exactly are the benefits of DVI?

1 and most important) Sharper picture, 'cos there is no Digital=>Analog back to Digital conversion required :)

2) Res limit with DVI-D is 1920*1200 i think...so fine even for full HDTV

Go for DVI-D(igital)

pretty sure you got everythig there. Alot of video card will say 1600x1200 max for the resolution for DVI, but there is a thing called blank interleaving which allows 1920x1200 just fine.
