DVI doesn't work on Sapphire Radeon 9200

I just bought an AGP 128MB Sapphire Radeon 9200 for my HTPC. It worked fine with my VGA CRT, and installed Windows 2000 and the driver that the CD came with. I chose to use the included CD drivers instead of the Catalyst drivers that I found on the AMD website for the 9200 because the ones from the website said Windows XP. It worked fine, and I installed a game and played it. Then I tried to connect it to my TV with a DVI -> Component adapter for ATI cards. It didn't work, but I did see a flash of the Windows 2000 loading screen in blurry black and white for about a second while I was rearranging the cables. Then I tried using a DVI -> VGA adapter to connect the monitor, but that didn't work either. Should I try using the up to date Catalysts instead? Or is there some setting I have to change?

The Windows XP drivers should also work on 2000. I'd give that a try first.

Nope, that didn't seem to work. The DVI -> Component adapter says it only works for 9500 cards and up, but some people have said they've gotten a 9200 to work. Still, DVI -> VGA should work just fine though right? I use the same adapter on my desktop.

Some low-end cards only have DVI-D (digital) rather than DVD-I (digital and analog).

If it must be replaced, consider one which has a mini-DIN to component output rather than hoping for adapter compatability.

Okay, I just checked, and it's definitely dual link DVI-I. So what could be causing it not to work?

Even if it is not compatible with the component adapter, the DVI to VGA should work. I'm stumped. Good luck.

Thanks, I emailed Sapphire about the problem. I heard their customer service sucks though, so I probably won't get a very good response. Maybe I'll have to RMA the card...

I had an FIC AGP R9200 64MB card, and I never had a problem with the DVI-VGA adaptor on the DVI-I connector. Perhaps something is defective with your card.
