DVI-D on my LCD

DVI-D mode does not receive a signal for my new viewsonic LCD. It works in VGA and in DVI-A modes. I tried both a DVI-I and a DVI-D cable so I don't think that is the problem. I also know that since I can run in DVI-A mode both ports on the graphics card and LCD work. I am running a Radeon 9500 Pro, I called up ATI support, they told me to escelate the problem (I hate ATI because of there support). I haven't called Viewsonic yet, but that will be my next step.

Does anyone know if I am missing something? Is there a setting somewhere to switch the signal? Is there any other test I can do to see if my card is outputting a digital signal? Has anyone else had this problem with a Radeon? Thanks in advance.

So you plug the monitor into the digital port only, and it shows an image, but somehow you can tell that it's running analog over DVI yet? I happened to upgrade from an ancient no-DVI Radeon to a with-DVI Geforce, so I'm sorry I can't be of any help on driver issues.

Today I spent the better part of an hour troubleshooting an issue with my LCD where it would get a signal on the analog port but not on the digital port (even with both connected at the same time). Finally, I had to set up the drivers as if I were going to use a multi-monitor setup, but have it clone the same image over both outputs. Subsequently disconnecting the analog port left the DVI port working fine. Still, I don't think this is probably related to what you're experiencing. 😕

Some LCDs have an option to switch to DVI-D input, do you see something like that on yours?

Yes, I can toggle between VGA, DVI-A and DVI-D. VGA works if I have a VGA cable connected. DVI-A works when I have a DVI-I cable connected. DVI-D does not work when I have a DVI-I or a DVI-D cable connected.

I have all the updated drivers and what not for my graphics card. ATI support confirmed this.
