DVI Connector Question

I have this Asus video card:
http://usa.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=V9400-X/TD&langs=09

Here are the various pin layouts for DVI:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVI-D#Connector_types

Most cards have the 24+5 DVI-I connector, but my stupid card has the 24+1 DVI-D connector.
The DVI-D is a Digital Only (i.e. not analog --integreated-- connector), does that mean that I can't hook up a regular SVGA montior to this DVI-D port via an adapter?

If I could use the DVI-D port for SVGA, can I use a DVI-I to VGA adapter by breaking off pins C1-C4 to make the adapter fit into the DVI-D port?

TIA
