If you're looking for something really nice, bluejeanscable makes some very nice cables of all sorts.

Dayton makes good cables too.

I don't know anything about the one you listed.

hehe i was gonna get a DVI cable but

1) theres no way im paying £20+ for a 1.8m length of cable
2) im not gonna pay £5+ shipping on said cable

i did find a decent cable for £9.89 but £6 shipping (1-3 days standard) can go straight to hell

If you want more cable suggestions, check out AVSforum (their HTPC area would be a good bet). You'll probably get more suggestions for higher priced cable over there though.

If you're looking for something of higher quality (mainly build quality, not signal quality), then bluejeanscable is often recommended.

I wouldn't bother though unless you're hooking up some $15,000 display.

thanks for the info. I want build and signal quality don't want to spend 200 on a cable but something that is above average. Perhaps your suggestions are good enough for me but just looking for a couple of more opinions. nothing personal.

Thanks for the help.

I totally understand the multiple opinions thing :)

It just didn't seem like you were getting any ;)

But like I said, AVSforum will have some opinions for you if you want to head over there.

Probably nothing, I just have that CompUSSR or Worst Buy thing going on right now.
I've been to Best Buy many times and the sales rep always tries to sell you the most expensive because of this and that...I wanted some honest opinions on the cables and where to get them.

ahhh, gotcha ... I only wondered because I just bought a 10ft DVI cable at CompUSA and suddenly got this sinking feeling that I bought a crappy one or something :) Its connecting my X800XT to my new 2405 and it looks great but I was gonna get all puckered if the cable was inferior somehow ;)

in the AVS forum they say that for small distances, it should not make much of a difference anyhow.

I just connected my cable...I must be doing something wrong, when I switch to DVI, there's no signal?

Using 9800 Pro
Samsung 930B
1280 x 1024, 32-bit

What am I doing wrong?

did you switch your monitor to DVI input? check the menu settings.

for 2m, I'd just get something off ebay or something. digital signals should be robust enough to withstand a cheap cable forshort lengths.

No headaches. DVI is a digital signal - meaning that it either gets there or doesn't. If it does, the quality coming out the far end is 100% of what went into the near end.

the card detects the connection, I can see that from the display properties...or could.
Now when I connect the DVI and reboot, there's no signal and I have to unplug, then analog kicks in.

ok, I have connected the DVI and it has been detected...do I have to reduce the refresh rate or something or just switch?

Hmmm... I wish I had an LCD so I could give you better advice and instructions... I've never actually done this :(

I hope somebody else can help you out.
