DVI CABLE

im looking to move from VGA to DVI connection for my flat panel, but at the mo im abit iff about paying over £20 for a piece of wire.

i have found a nice cheap cable here but i wanna know if ill benefit from buying a more expensive cable

If it's not a long cable run, basically any DVI cable should be fine, as far as I know. The signal basically will either get there or it won't

I've only used the DVI cable that came with my monitor (2005FPW), and it's just fine. I've even used it to hook up my computer to an HDTV with great results.

cool, yeah its not going very far, infact a 2m cable is too much for me, cool ill jus dump a tenner on that cable n be happy

male to male is correct right? what does it mean by dual link? i only have 1 monitor will it still work?

Yeah, you'd want a male to male cable. Dual link uses all the pins in the DVI connection (single link - or "regular" DVI only uses half). This allows higher resolutions/signal bandwidth, basically. For example, the Apple 30" Cinema Display requires dual-link DVI for its native resolution, 2560x1600. This is different from "dual DVI" as it is usually advertised on video cards - which simply refers to two separate single-link DVI ports. Even if you use a dual-link cable, it should work just fine, since I believe DVI connectors don't "block out" the unused pins.
