DVI Cable Question

I have several LCD monitors at work and noticed that the ViewSonic monitors are coming with a thicker cable than the Dell monitors. I was curious if DVI cables can be significantly different - ie., thicker = more shielding and better signal.

Yeah, with anything cables, you can get thicker ones which have more shielding. The longer your run is, the more sheilding will matter as the signal gets weaker.

I've found the best quality DVI cables are the newest generation of Monster Cable DVI-400 or M Series cables. They have some really great shielding and precise connectors, and solved all the problems I was having with the cheesy OEM cable.

Yes you should, well they're not crap....they are overpriced. They aren't BAD cables they just aren't good for the money. You can do better for cheaper

Thickness does matter in DVI and often means better shielding (thicker insulator, etc). Your typical 6 foot DVI cable doesn't need to be insanely thick, but for runs over 10 feet a high quality cable is recommended. DVI turns to mud over ~25 feet generally speaking.
