DVI analog or HD15?

Is there any difference in image quality when using a video card's HD15 analog video connector as opposed to using a DVI-HD15 connector or is it an identical signal coming out of a different plug?
 
They are identical. If however you use a DVI-I to HD-15 converter, the signal may degrade due to the impedance mismatches of the connectors. In this case the straight HD-15 would provide a better signal.
