MackemX & TheMadGuy have now made their 2 great products DVDStripper & MenuModder freeware.

DVDStripper allows you to remove anything you want in a dvd while keeping the dvd's structure working, used to take hours with IfoEdit. Remove what you want after ripping and then compress with the app of your choice (DVD Shrink, DVD2One, etc.)

MenuModder allows you to disable menu buttons that you've removed with DVDStripper.

Guides are available at the site as well as support.

This is not a transcoder. this allows you to remove any item in a dvd's structure such as just one extra , and keeps the menu and all original playability intact.

I can't wait until dual layer burners are available and programs like this become next to useless.

You might check out the latest version of DVD Shrink. It is awesome especially considering the cost - free.

Dual-layer discs will probably be more than double the cost of normal blanks, at least at the start. Although I'll gladly pay $3.00 or $5.00 for a perfect bit-for-bit copy of "Apocalypse Now" or "Fellowship of the Rings," I'm pretty happy to spend $0.50 to make a compressed copy of "Legally Blonde."

Which is to say, the more tools in my DVD arsenal, the better.

You seem to miss the point of these apps....you use them with (before) DVDShrink or DVD2One, etc to keep exactly what you want and still have the menus work perfectly without replacing the removed items with still pictures allowing for less compression to be used making your copies better quality.

From what I've heard, this is a perfect companion for DVDShrink. It gives you an easy way to do more advanced customization of your Shrink-ed DVD without having to hand edit in IFOEdit. You can remove certain extras and keep others or certain episodes in a more advanced way than DVDShrink's "still pictures" option (which take up a lot of space).

Supposedly, MackemX said there will be other non-register mirrors up sometime. Now that it's out, I don't think they're going to withdraw it again.

I've been wanting to give this one a try and was hoping for a trial version...but this is much better. :D

Awesome! I'm going to have to check it out. The way that I currently do it is with DVDDecrypter and then use DVD2one to get it onto a DVD. What I don't like about this set up is that it's either all or nothing. You either leave everything in or just extract the movie. Often, the movie with all of the extras is too large to fit onto a dvd without compressing it too much with DVD2one. If this software does what I hope it will do, this will be nice. I'd like to keep some of the features, but dump the subtitles, extra audio tracks and any previews.

Thanks for posting this. I'll give it a try.

BTW.. Do you use these programs instead of something like DVDDecrypter or do you decrypt the dvd first, then use this software to edit out what you want, then use something like dvd2one to make it fit onto a dvd?

you use Stripper after DVD Decrypter but before encoding with DVD2One/DVDShrink

AFAIK, this program uses DVDDecrypter to rip, then you can strip the titles (extras or whatever) out. Then you bring the resulting file into Shrink (or DVD2One or another program) for transcoding, if necessary.

Ok.. Between dvddecrypter and dvd2one. Makes sense. Does anyone know for sure if stripper does have dvddecrypter built in?

Heh.. I wonder why they zipped these files. I can understand with the stripper because it has a text file with it, but the menu modder is about 10kb's smaller as a zip file than the exe file. :)

No, you have to download it seperately and make sure to get the right version.

DVDStripper IMPORTANT READ FIRST FAQ

Make sure you use the correct versions and do not post errors if you have used other versions as they are not tested and may not be suitable

Ifoedit 0.95

DVDDecrypter 3.1.6.0/3.1.7.0

Missing files when first starting DVDStripper

you can download the VB Run-Time files HERE

Comdlg32.ocx
Mscomctl.ocx

you may have to register the file if DVDStripper still does not start, so click START then RUN to open the RUN window

enter the following for each file (Make sure you have the correct drive which is C:\ in this example)
Regsvr32 C:\windows\system32\comdlg32.ocx
Regsvr32 C:\Windows\system32\mscomctl.ocx

if you do it correctly it should display a window saying something like

DllregisterServer in :\windows\system32\Comdlg32.ocx succeeded.

if you are replacing the files as yours don't work, make sure you remove the old files as they may be in the C:\windows\system\ but you want the new ones in the system32 folder (I'm not sure if the location matters but do it anyway)

I have DVDdecrypter v. 3.1.9.0, i i guess i would have to find one of the earlier versions to use this. Has anyone tried the program (s) yet to see how they work?

I've been using these since they came out....Every back-up I make is done with these apps. Work flawlessly if you read up on the instructions and guides.

yah, i just got introduced to DVDShrink. really awesome.

but im guessing this program is a menu editor and chapter remover? i know u can unselect audios/subtitles, but didnt have the option of unselecting chapters.

sounds good for those that want better quality reencodes by giving up extras and director's notes and stuff.

Which version is the "correct" version?

Sal

To use DVDStripper you must install these versions of these apps and point DVDStripper to them;

Ifoedit 0.95

DVDDecrypter 3.1.6.0/3.1.7.0 only not newer versions.

Something in the newer versions doesn't play well with DVDStripper.
