Ok I am using DVDShrink to backup one of my movies and I cant seem to get the menu in the dvd that is copied...I re-author the dvd and i just wanted to know to keep the menu on the movie without having to make one.

Thanks for your help

Make sure you have DVD shrink version 3 beta 5.

open DVD shrink. Select the DVD. by default it should be set to automatic compression. leave it there. Also by default it selects the main movie rather than the top menu with all the options. Just click on the top folder (main menu) and select the proper audio (usually AC3-6). Then click 'backup'. No re-authoring necessary.

Think it applies a motion filter when doing the MPEG2 compression so that you get less artifacts, but I could be wrong.

And if you're using v3 beta 5, make sure you select deep analysis, it's worth the extra time.

YES!!!! so true!

What does it do?

smarter compression. it examines the DVD before compressing and dictates which areas of the media will be compressed greater than others, etc....

My system can do deep analysis on a movie in about 15 min (initial scan). Without deep analysis is something like 1 min (initial scan). Doing the actual shrink/write to disk takes another 15 min.

Yeah but if he wants to keep the menu and the dvd is to big he has to re-author it.
I always wanted to figure out how to keep the menu in there even after a re-author too....
