DVDs only 4.5gb, but says 4.7gb

Actually, you can usually only burn 4.38gigs on a standard DVD I think, so if you can do 4.5, good work^^.
 
yup, 4.7 gigs refers to 47,000,000,000 bytes, which is how manufacterers measure capacity, while your computer uses binary format, which measures capacity in powers of 2.
 
4,700,000,000 bytes per DVD based on what the manufacturer claims.
1024^3 bytes per GB (not 1000^3 bytes/GB)

4,700,000,000 / (1024^3) = 4.38GB = actual media capacity
