Are DVD's made in Argentina any good? I just bought one from a 3rd party on Amazon, thinking it was going to be from Germany.
I bought some music related (concert) DVD's made in Brazil and they were junk. Poor quality. And I found out they were unofficial DVD releases. They were only available officially on VHS.

DVD's from Argentina are PAL (50Hz based). I don't know about the quality.

DVD's from Brazil are NTSC based. I have many from Brazil, including music. They are ORIGINAL releases and work fine, no quality issues at all. You said yours were from 3rd party, meaning they are illegal? You cannot expect quality there.

I have american based DVDs (original) that fit in the junk quality, being deffective under 1 year, lousy packages or just poor video quality. The region does not warrant quality.

DVD's from Brazil have normally the original soundtrack in English, plus portuguese and spanish. There is a chance that the menu is made in portuguese, but it is playable if you are smart enough to guess the button PLAY.

You must be aware also that despite the different color system (BrazilxArgentina), they are both Region 4 and your player must be made codefree.

If anyone is interested in buying tittles in Brazil, I recommend the following website (local business similar to Amazon is for US)

http://www.submarino.com.br/homecache/d...aspx?Query=MixProductPage&ProdTypeId=6

Exchange rate US/REAL is around 2.30 (divide the price given by 2.30). Shipping must be considered (not given without a quote).

Hey thanks for all the info.

I bought the DVD from a seller on Amazon. I'm not sure why that would mean they're illegal? 3rd party, meaning that it's was bought for/paid through Amazon.com; on Amazon's item page, you click on the 'x sellers selling new and used' link. I didn't think when I bought it that it would be illegal if selling through Amazon, but who knows. Amazon's page for the item I bought. 3rd party page (I bought the first one listed, from igotluckycds).

Before I bought, I asked the seller about video format and region code, and she said all as described on Amazon, which states NTSC (doesn't list region). I don't want to open it to find out the video format, but it does in fact state region 0 on the back. Other people that bought it direct from Amazon had no problem playing it on regular players, including the one sold by cduniverse, which is from Germany and states it's NTSC and R-0. Someone said theirs from from DDD is also from Germany, and R-0 (but didn't know video format). I assumed the one from Amazon was too, so thought the one I bought would be.
If I could confirm the one Amazon sells is from Germany, I'd have a legit excuse to return it.

I'm pretty sure the ones I got from Brazil a couple years ago were not officially licensed DVDs by the band. They weren't and still aren't officially available on DVD in any other country except Brazil. Only official releases are the VHS and laserdisc versions. I still have the covers for them. They were NTSC, and played fine in my standalone player, which hasn't been region hacked. But the video quality was worse than my old official US retail printed VHS version. This is one of the 2 I bought, though from an ebay seller.
