I bought several months ago a LG 4160B DVD writer (dual layer, DVD RAM and all the nice things) and I observed a very strange thing:
The writer likes best some Princo 4x DVD-R media - it burns it perfectly as long as the written data is at some 4.6GB (very close to the rated 4.7GB of the discs). This media costs somewhere around .4 USD a piece. However, on several other media I tried, the error rate was up to one of three - TDK media almost twice as expensive, the original Samsung media I bought with it, not to mention other examples I tried. TraxData 8x DVD-R was ok also.
Do you have other experiences with your DVD burners? Media preference, media incompatibility, things like that?
Also, there are dual layer media for sale anywhere? I haven't seen yet, nor did I ever seen DVD-RAM media
Thanks
