I have a 16x DVDROM and before, I had it as slave along with my 24x burner as master (WinXP, all have DMA enabled). I ran some reading benchmarks for my DVD (single layer DVDROM, 4.1GB), its avg. reading speed was only 7.1x. However when I put my DVD to ma and burner to sl, my reading speed for the DVD boosted to 10.3x! However, reading speed for normal CDs didn't change. My burner has no problem with its sl position (avg. write speed of 22.24x).

Why is that so strange? Shouldn't master and slave doesn't really have an effect on performance?
