Yes that's the program. I bought it before they pulled it. What happens when I try to start it is the opening windows flashes by and then nothing.

How about you dump that pos and get a proper program. Either use DVD Decrypter and CloneDVD or DVD shrink. They're *much* better and work properly. The shutdown of 321 was the best thing to happen to consumers in a long time.

I'm not sure but I know DVD Decrypter does and it's freeware like DVD Shrink. Personally I like CloneDVD but it's $30 or so.

Ya, I think it was claimed illegal or the company producing it was stopped from selling it. You could try DVD Shrink which is a similar Open Source program.

edit: oops, was a little slow in responding. Anyway, yes DVD Shrink will burn as well, though I believe you need Nero installed to do so(could be wrong about this).

I'm experiencing the same problem. I start DVD XCopy Express, the opening screen appears, then it blinks off with the Windows sound for " end program " and nothing happens from there. I reinstalled over the existing program, didn't work. Then uninstalled and reinstalled fresh from the retail CD. Did that twice. Still won't work. I even ran the utility sfc /scannow from WinXP in between reinstalls. Still nothing. I realize there are other programs available but I'd really like to solve this problem and continue using this software which has been working well (100% error free) up to now.

I'm running Win XP Home - full version on a P4 2.6ghz 1gig ram with Zone Alarm (freeware) and Norton AntiVirus 2002. I did turn these off and all other programs running in the background but still no dice.

Hope someone can help out. Any and all tips would be greatly appreciated.

Please don't take offense Scott, but the fact your software still works doesn't really help me or anyone else having the same problem.

DigitalBear,
As mentioned above, I tried DVD Shrink and it worked fine.

DB:

This is my first post in this Forum, which I came across in my desperate search to find the answer to my DVD XCopy problem. I'm glad I found it because it let me know that my problem wasn't unique to my computer.

I'm running XP Pro on a P4, 3.0GHzG, 2GB RAM

I?ve used DVD XCopy for almost 2 years, and this is the first problem I?ve had with it. My symptoms were exactly the same as yours, and I tried the same remedies to no avail. But this morning I tried something that finally brought my DVD XCopy back to life. The culprit is a Temporary Internet File (I have no idea which file).

If you follow this procedure, it may work for you, too:

First, UNINSTALL DVD XCopy (from the Add/Remove Programs part of your Control Panel). When the screen prompts you to reboot, hit CANCEL instead.

Now open your browser. Go to TOOLS, then to INTERNET OPTIONS. Then, under Temporary Internet Files, click DELETE FILES (don?t worry about deleting Cookies. They don't present a problem).

Now close your browser and reboot your computer.

Insert the DVD XCopy disc and re-install the program.

You should now be able to start DVD XCopy.

I hope this helps you get back on track.

You're welcome, Gary.

My only regret is that I didn't make note of the
specific Temp File that caused the problem before I deleted all
of my Temp Files. But it worked. I've backed up two DVDs today.
And I've printed out the tip and placed it with my DVD XCopy software
for future reference.

After uninstalling, reinstalling, and rebooting DVD XCopy Express at least a dozen times I gave up.I even tried removing all entries to the software that registry editor could find before 2 reinstalls.Anyway, downloaded DVD Shrink,Decrypter, and a trial version of DVDFab.Everything was going fine until one particular burn started giving me trouble.Shrunk it,decrypted it,but couldn't burn it.After a few attempts I decided I'd look to the forums again for an answer, but, before I opened my browser,I tried opening DVD XCopy Ex one more time - just for the heck of it.I love punishment. Can't explain it,but somewhere along the line some bug bugged out and now XCopy Ex is working perfect.Go figure.I do clean out my temp files, cookies, etc. regularly(daily)and perhaps that is the trick,as Kenyada has suggested. So if it happens again I'll do my file clean thingy, reboot, and if that puts everything back in order, viola, solution found.

Thanks to all,

DB
