DVD writer

hello gals/guys, i'm getting a dvd writer Pioneer DVR AO9XLA , any views about it would be much appreciated, is it a good one os should i look for other makes, currently i am limited to Asus. TDk and Pioneer

Hey man,
If I were you, I'd buy a Pioneer DVR-109. The DVR-109 is the OEM version of the DVR-A09, which means it costs half as much but the internals are identical. It just has less software and a different face.

Anyway, my DVR-109 has worked perfectly on everything I have tried it with. Haven't done any DL burning, but Im pretty confident that it could do it.

thanks for the reply rod well i don't have the choice here, there's no oem from where i am, but if you say everything is same except the soft bundle then that's good enoug for me to buy it

The front panel of the A09 also looks nicer than the 109, with the shiny big silver button. The reason to choose the 109 is because it's cheaper.

Just out of interest, where are you? I live in the most isolated capital city on the planet, Perth, Australia (Im serious, it is the most isolated capital city in the world), and I can still get the OEM version.

near you RoD, in Mauritius, well i know a place where i can get oem but then their reputation is not too good, don't trust the things they sell, bought a samsung cd-writer from them last year and now after one year it closes by itself and spins even without any cd inside. well i'l get the pioneer then. thanks for the reply man.

The A09 also has a dimpled deck, IIRC, to help it be even quieter. And if it is your first one, you might want the software.

This is a good choice and I prefer Pioneer over any other DVD Writer mfgr.

the AO9 looks sweet, nice beige to match my casing and it's kinda wood like , well ya it's quiet, could barely hear it while watching a dvd, my samsung used to rotate like a ceiling fan, well today gonna burn a few things and finally back up my hard disk. hey thanks a lot guys for the help.

Yep, the pioneer is beautiful. And fast. It's slightly noiser when burning than reading, but still not much, compared to all the fans in my system.
