I cant tell if my old toshiba samsung dvd drive will be compatible with the enclosure i found on the net? Could someone please help me, I'm a real noob when it comes to connections? i dont know the difference between IDE/ATAPI? or are they the same when it comes to optical laptop drives?

This is how the connector on my dvd drive looks:

This is how the connector on the dvd enclosure looks:

Thanks!

The two pics are labled ATAPI-1.jpg and IDE.jpg, and an IDE connector is also called an ATAPI connector (and a PATA connector), but those pics aren't very clear so it's difficult to tell what they are for sure. Your best bet is to check Toshiba/Samsung's spec for the model number of your drive and for the case.

Hope that helps. 🙂
