DVD (VOB) -> WMV Guide?

Anyone know of a good guide to do this? I Googled a couple but looking for something definitive. Any help appreciated.

What sort of quality are you looking for? If it's going to a PocketPC or PMC, there are lots of standalone utilities that'll do it in a snap.

I would sure hope you're not stuck using Windows Media Encoder, because it sucks.

EDIT>> It looks like WME9 does allow the source file to be .VOB so that's likely your best bet. Go through the wizard for "convert a file" ... don't think it can get any easier.

This is true. I use Pocket-DVD Studio and it is practically a 1-click process.

Otherwise if it's a regular conversion (why WMV, I don't know)... the easiest way I know is:
1) FairUse Wizard turns it into DIVX AVI
2) Windows Media Encoder (AVI --> WMV)

You'll need the latest DIVX codec (I like the klite codec pack). For step 1, there are other tools like Dr. Divx that will do it for you without you needing to know specifics of video/audio settings. An app like VirtualDub[Mod] allows more tweaking (here's something I posted a few months back for it). But there aren't many WMV encoders that I know and WME is likely the easiest one anyway with the wizards.

I am doing WMV because this is actually part of a presentation I am making on digital distribution of media and piracy. I already have a 13mbps .TS of the content I made into 1300kbps and 700kbps Xvid AVIs. Now I want to do the same with WMV because I want to demo MS's DRM. I really want to avoid converting it all over because I am trying to keep the quality. I thought DVD->WMV would be easier than TS->WMV.
