I've been playing DVDs on my PC for ages now, and i've always noticed that they just don't look right. Almost like the colours are a bit bland. I'm running a Radeon 9800, so i know my card should make them look nicer than that, shouldnt they? I'm also running them on Win DVD platinum. Anyone have any ideas as to what this might be?

Thanks.

Longshot, since you have a 9800, but running the desktop in 16 bit color messed up DVD?s with my 7500.

No, i am running the desktop in 32 bit colour.

But it does kind of look like the colours are in 16 bit in the movie. Not fully, just somewhat.

Start a movie minimize go to advanced display properties overlay and try different settings till it looks how you want it to.

After playing a movie, and pausing it at an exact moment where a reviewer of a movie at IGN did, and where he took a screen capture of it, i'd say they look very similar, yet the colours look a little more vibrant on theirs, and the image is slightly sharper. I'm not quite sure what this would be then, so i might try a different program. If anyone might have an idea on to why that might be, let me know. Thanks.

The sharpness and vibrance could be because of the monitor. An aperture grilled type will look more vibrant and sharp.
