DVD versus CD speed

If a DVD player is rated 16x or 8x what is the equivalent in CD speed?

1x DVD speed = 1350 KB/sec
1x CD speed = 150 KB/s

Making 1x DVD read speeds 9 times faster than 1x CD read speeds, making the above poster correct.

keeping in mind that even if you have a 8x DVD drive, you won't be reading CDs at 72x 😛

Well, you can actually read/write HD CD at 72X with the drives that support it 🙂
