DVD Version and CD

is there a differenc between the DVD version of BF2 and the CD version besides the DVD is one disc? will the load times be lower with the DVD(do you have to insert the disk to play?)since read times of DVDs as slower then CD-ROMs?

No difference that I know of. The disc is required to be inserted to play, but I highly doubt anything is loaded from the disc. The entire game is most likely installed onto the hard drive, as my install nears 2GB.

No difference, nothing is loaded off the CD during gameplay, although it does check that it's in when you start it up like Blurred said.

One of my friends says that with his dvd version of the game, that he doesn't have to have the disc in to play. I wouldn't know myself as I have the CD version.

I have the dvd version and it has the cd check.

there are ways around putting in the disc, so your friend my not be lying and still be using a legit copy. personally i am doing it because i only have 1 optical drive, so changing out the disc everytime i want to play is a pain in the ass. my discs just sit in the dvd type box, and yes i can play on all server and do own the game and am not using a no-cd cracked exe.

i have the dvd also, has cd-check, and doesnt contain anything else just fewer discs
