DVD to .mov or mpeg video

I'm looking for a freeware software that I can use to convert DVD movies to .mov or mpeg video files so I can edit them in iMovie and adobe premiere. Suggestions?
 
Are you sure this is the right place to be asking?
There is an Apple forum for OSX software, since I assume that's what you need?
 
nope I don't have a mac, I'm in college and all the computers THERE are macs, thats where I'm using iMovie but we're not aloud to put software on the schools computers. Therefore I need to do the converting on my home PC.
