Ok. So i recently reformatted my comp with windows XP and then added SP3

Everything about the computer is working flawlessly except when I attempt to copy files from a CD or DVD whether it be manually copying or installing a game or other program.

The computer lags horribly; video lag, processes slow down, everything.

The computer did not slow at all while transferring the files from the windows install disk to the HDD by the way. That leads me to believe that this is a windows only issue.

I've been trying to find the solution for a couple days now and I've had no luck so I'm posting here.

These are my system specs:

E6600 @ 3.0GHZ
4GB DDR2800 (2x2gb) (yes, I realize I don't get to use all of it in XP, but I dual boot)
2x 320GB WD 7200rpm HDDS
2x Samsung SH-H162L DVD burners
X1900XT 512MB

Sp3 has some bugs in it, you may have to re-register certain MS files, are you using the native copy feature in Windows?

By native copy do you mean the ability to drag and drop files? If so, sometimes yes. Other times, it's installer programs trying to do the work. For instance, battle for middle earth 2 and my orange box disks both experience this problem.

I would like to learn how to re-register these MS files, if that will solve the issue.
