DVD Stutters with the new Radeon 32MB DDR Drivers

I installed the drivers that came with my radeon and the date on it is 9/29/00. I went to ATI to dl the newest drivers which are dated 1/17/01. After installing the newer drivers, the DVD playback stutters....shouldn't the newer driver be better?

I'm running win2k on a tbird 750.
