This is one of the main apps I'm looking at -- I'm d/ling the trial now -- but I'm also curious if there are any others that are especially good. I will be combining multiple slideshows on one disc, some containing video and several audio tracks, etc etc, and so the more powerful the better.

Any others to try as well?

I've tried nero 6 - it works reasonably well.

Only problem that I've come across is that you can only put 99 slides in one show. However, you can put multiple slideshows/videos on one DVD and have a conventional DVD menu for it.

ulead DVD pictureshow blows chunks.

- doesn't let you combine photos and videos in a slideshow (or multiple videos, for that matter)
- doesn't let you add music for just the length of the music (like, if you add a 3 minute song, it will loop continually unless you add another song after it, and it won't tell you where you should add the next song, so you have to guess, run through hours of preview (see below), and find out you missed by 2 slideS)
- preview mode doesn't let you fast forward or rewind

So, anything out there that will do this? I'll have to play with Nero, but the 99 slide limit is too bad.

Pinnacle Studio 8/9 does photos as well as video - I have used it extensively with great results. Very easy to use.

If you want to add Ken Burns type Pan and Zoom effects to the pictures then get Video Explosion Deluxe or Sony Screenblast Movie Studio (they are basically the same program). VED and SSMS are little brothers of the very powerful and expensive Vegas Video. You can do both photos and video with these programs also. I have Video Explosion Deluxe but have not messed with it much yet.

I have also used DVD X Show. It too is very simple to use but it does not do video clips, just pictures. It does do the pan and zoom though.
