Go to 'My Computer' open it. Right click on your DVD drive and click on 'Properties' in there it will have the options to activate DMA mode in a check box. What sort of DVD player did you get? I have a Pioneer slot load 16 x. Never missed a beat in the 3 months I have had it.

I have an NEC. It did the same thing in Win 98se, all I had to do is access DMA and it was fine. But in Win 2k, it won't let me do it through the device manager. I tried what you suggested, and it doesn't give me the option to access DMA? Please HELP!!!
