I sold my dad a computer awhile ago with shrink setup on it, but I think he changed some of the setting now after he hits re-author and it says automatic settings and it's like 98% for compression when he hits the backup botton it's saying it's to big and he will lose some of the data or movie.

Anyone have any sugestions for him, hes not good at all with computers he didn't know how to delete files or empty the recyling bin either without some help from me.

Thanks guys and girls !

he won't be able to follow that guide. it take about 10 minutes to tell him on the phone how to delete a couple files and empty the rycling bin.

He changed something I'm pretty sure in DVD shrink settings now it says it's to big when he reuthors a movie if it's not 100%, I'm just trying to figure out what he changed.

Well providing tech support for someone with little knowledge (or even extensive knowledge) over the phone is really difficult.

I would probably have setup the PC with 3 partitions & Norton Ghost 2003

Partition 1 =OS & Programs
Partition 2 =Ghost images
Partition 3 = Files & movies

If anything ever messed up with the settings, virus, adware, malware, spyware, blah blah blah then I'd just walk him through a ghost restore.

Then again you could always just stop providing support. But your Dad wouldn't be happy about that.

yeah I don't even think I could tell him over the phone how to restore a ghost image, I just thouhgt maybe someone would know what settings he might have changed to make it act that way.

I showed him a few time how to do it and he even wrote everything down step by step.

Well it's proply time to get it back off him and do a fresh install of everything any how.

Thanks for youe help.
