DVD Shrink - I ripped/burned, but the DVD won't display the menu

I ripped "Badder Santa" using DVD Shrink's default settings. I burned the DVD.

The DVD does start to play in my DVD player; does the "WARNING" BS. But then when it's supposed to cut over to the main menu, I get an error, and my DVD player displays "Cannot play this disc. Check disc."

What did I do wrong?

It's on a DVD-R, if that matters.

You won't be able to use the menus. You will ahve to re-author and trash the menus. I ran into the same problem when I stared using dvdshrink.

Thank you, Curly. I will try that. If I kill all the menus, will it "autoplay" when I put it in the DVD?

Encoding now with just the main movie and the extras. It fits with no compression. :) We'll see what happens.

What I do is get rid of everything but the main title and AC3 5.1 english. Of course some movies are short enough you can do a full disk minus the menus.

Let me know how it works out.

Another great think you can do with Shrink to minimize compression is to remove the end credits, or even set them to still pictures. With the large movies that have to be compressed a good bit, setting the end credits to still pictures saves a percentage point or two, and I don't really notice much difference.

Guide Here

BlueWeasel; that's a way cool tutorial! Even I could follow it.

Yup. DVD Shrink rocks! As does DVD Decrypter. I'm new to this DVD burning as well having bought my burner in Feb of this year and have already burned almost 500 discs. In comparison I burned less than 50 CDRs in 5 years I had my CD burners.
