I have been looking, and short of winra, I can't find anything comparable. Any idea if there's the equivalent to dvd shrink for game CD or (preferaby) a program to shrink the installed files down maybe?
Windows lets you turn on disk compression for partitions (and single folders?) but the game files are usually already partly compressed so you won't gain much.
Also, any compression you use will add a performance hit whenever data needs to be loaded so you'd add some stuttering and stalling.
Compression for UT2004/Unreal Engine games is VERY effective (using Windows compression assuming NTFS partition).
Also (as far as I have noticed) it doesn't slow the game down much, if at all noticeably.
Maps/textures etc for UT2004 and related things are highly compressable.
I meant to I could put them on a CD and run a quick registry update to install them on the lab computers when I'm working instead of having to do a fresh install and run hours of updates. NT with the last link though, I actually moused over it just for kicks.
