Just bought Kick Ass and I want to back it up on my HDD to watch on my TV one day via HTPC. Both DVD shrink and Decrypter are failing. Could it be the disk? The burner? or the Protection?

Copy protection. A lot of new releases get new copy protection that has to be patched into the ripping program. Give DVDFab a try. It may not encode it straight from the disk, but it should be able to pull either the entire disk, or just the main movie, which you can then reload into it or use whatever program you want to encode it.

Yep, no development for several years. DVDFab is a good choice.

Lol yea those rippers have been worthless for quite a while now. If it works you got lucky.

Dvdfab or slysoft are what are consistently updated now.

you can rip whatever format you wish.

Slysoft is a paid program. It's about $160 for a lifetime membership (unlimited patches)... I paid them about a year ago, and never had a problem.

DVDFab I have the trial of now (they compliment each other nicely), but it seems to like to crash on me frequently when using the blu ray options, and its a company from China, so I'm a bit hesitant to give them my CC# for a subscription.
